Resistor Calculator (Series & Parallel)

Enter resistor values in ohms, and this calculator will compute the total resistance for both series and parallel circuits. Add as many resistors as you want.

How Series and Parallel Resistance Works

Resistors combine differently depending on whether they are wired in series or parallel.

Series Formula

Rtotal = R₁ + R₂ + R₃ + … Series adds resistance because current flows through each resistor sequentially.

Parallel Formula

1 / Rtotal = 1/R₁ + 1/R₂ + 1/R₃ + … Parallel reduces total resistance because multiple current paths exist.

This calculator is suitable for electronics design, Arduino projects, school circuits and quick engineering estimates.
